Fundamental Disaster Management Course

Society for Prehospital Advanced Resuscitation and Kiss of Life, Hong Kong
Developed by the Society of Critical Care Medicine, this one-day course module will equip professionals with the expertise to manage natural or manmade large-scale disasters. Using the text from Fundamental Disaster Management as a course guide, attendees will work through an interactive, instructor-led educational program.

Target participants:
All health care providers interested to be prepared to assist victims of man-made and/or natural disasters, including doctors of all specialties, nursing professionals, paramedics and first responders.
Certification:
Successful completion of the course requires a grade of 70% on the written post-test, satisfactory performance at the skill stations, attendance through the course, and submission of the course evaluation documents. A certificate of successful completion, referred to as “FDM Trained”, will be issued by the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

All participants will receive a copy of the Fundamental Disaster Management 3rd edition course handbook that serves as the backbone to medical response to disasters. This publication follows an all-hazards approach to disaster management that was developed by a consortium of academic, state, and federal centers under federal appropriation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
