Spark of Life joined hands with Sik Sik Yuen and organized a “Healthy Rice Dumplings and Caring” activity. Through the activity, it was hoped to let the general public, especially the elderly, to have experience with a healthy and nutritious rice dumpling; to pass a message of healthy diet; and to show caring to the elderly during the Dragon Boat Festival. On Sunday, 14 June 2015, starting at 9:30 am, around 200 elderly gathered in the Fung Ming Hall of the Wong Tai Sin Temple. A Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner talked about “Healthy Rice Dumplings and Healthy Life Style” and a nutritionist talked about “Healthy and Nutritious Diet”. There was a competition on rice dumpling wrapping. A total of 23 members of Spark of Life participated in the activities. Finally, half of the healthy rice dumplings were promoted and distributed to the general public in the plaza in front of the Wong Tai Sin Temple and the rest were delivered to the Ho Kin District Community Centre for Senior Citizens (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) to be distributed to the elderly. Around 8000 rice dumplings were distributed free, and the activity ended at around 1 pm.
